The next content patch and the opening of the now defiled Black Temple, home of Illidan and his minions has long been known. However, the patch is also introducing a great deal of new solo and 5-person content as well, with new rewards, factions, outdoor bosses, and items. As we’re approaching the release of the patch we wanted to share a glimpse into some of the upcoming content that hadn’t yet been confirmed for this next patch, or hadn’t even been heard of until now.

Druid Epic Flight Form

The Druid Epic flight form will be available through a series of quests, similar to the Warlock and Paladin Epic mount quests before it. This quest series will also open up a new boss in Sethekk Halls, and ultimately to the epic flight form.

Ethereum Prison

Players in good standing with the Consortium will be tasked to deal with the most recent activities of the nefarious Ethereum. With new quests, items, and content for the solo and small-group level 70 player, the Ethereum Prison will be the proving grounds for many aspiring to greatness.

Skettis

The Skyguard, Sha’tari warriors specializing in their command of the skies above Shattrath, have taken the offensive directly to the Arakkoa capital city, Skettis. Perched high in the mountains of Terrokar, and only accessible with use of a flying mount, Skettis holds new and exciting content for the solo or small-group level 70 player. All new quests, 5-person bosses, rare and epic items, and a new type of flying mount await those willing to lend their sword or stave to the battle.

Nether Drake

The Netherwing faction and quest line continues and the long awaited Nether Drake becomes available. The Nether Drake is a special 280% speed epic flying mount that is obtainable through solo and small-group play. The quest to obtain one will be difficult, but the reward will surely show your dedication to the Netherwing cause as you soar through the skies of Outland on your very own ethereal drake.

Ogri’la

The Ogre plateau of enlightenment opens to those who prove their worth in Blade’s Edge Mountains. Level 70 players will be able to help the Ogres of Ogri’la battle invading forces and engage in new and exciting quests, such as a repeatable and ever popular bombing-run, this time using your own flying mount but with a dangerous twist! Featuring tons of new quests, the Ogri’la faction, 5-person bosses, and rare and epic items, Ogri’la is a place we’re hoping all will aspire to enter.

I'm glad they made it a reasonably sized content patch - there must be a lot of people out there without many quests remaining. I see that the whining starts on page 2... Honestly - why are people complaining that the epic flying mount will require epic flight skill? How exactly do they think it would work otherwise?

I have no idea, especially as it was stated ages ago that you WOULD need the riding skill.

As for the rest, lots of solo content is good.  New Consortium quests is good (not a million miles away from revered, hope there's enuogh quests to take me to exalted ).  Epic flight form means a lot of saving for me but is otherwise good.  2 new rep grinds is annoying but expected.

OMFG that is amazing - its good to see new content being already, it keeps the game nice and fresh.

Everything mentioned seems to be worth taking a look at.  Hopefully it will attract a few old players back and give some bored players a breath of fresh air.

Now time to get me a dragon
I'm in your forum, trolling your threads...

Uther quit, Arthas re-rolled and the Order of the Silver Hand disbanded...but you still want to be a paladin?

Awesome  Great to see that they have decided to supply the casual gamer with more content rather than pile on the end game content or add some crappy new holiday or something  as per usual.

I agree.  If they wish to hold onto the casual gamer (i.e. those who will likely go no further than TK and Kara) then they ought add more stuff in the 30-60 level region.  Opening some new areas would be nice, plenty of zones presently inactive on the map.

Although I do not trust Blizzard to do things on time or the way we might like (understatement, you may cry), I think they are planning ahead and that we'll see more large content patches like this long before another expansion.  Not that I'll be around, I'll be playing WAR

I think annually is more realistic knowing Blizzard, but they might suprise us.  I know if I were them I'd certainly be preparing an expansion to release along side Warhammer Online.

Because you need one?

I suspect you'll see a few quests for the levelling crew too, but the vast majority will be endgame stuff. I'm just glad that it looks like there will be lots of content available to casual (ie non-hardcore raiders) gamers like myself

From the Blizzard forum:

Q u o t e:
Holy freaking crap. You guys put out one expansion and now you're working on what looks like enough content to equal the amount currently in the game. I can't wait!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe thats because the expansion was actually incomplete. You are sitting there saying to yourself, Blizzard wouldn't release an incomplete product, would they? Well, if you spent 30 minutes flying around outland it sure felt that way. Mountain tops with villages on them, empty, ghost towns. Now they're gonna finally put in the content? Please.

He has a point.  I don't feel as strongly as he does but he has given me something to think about and it has changed my perspective on this patch somewhat.  I have seen empty villages and stuff which were clearly "filler" that made up the landscape between zones.  Now they are simply adding mobs to these villages and branding it as new content.  At the end of the day I am happy for new quests and rewards but you can't escape the reality that Blizzard are triumphantly declaring this content "new" when it is actually just the finishing touches to TBC that they couldn't complete even after pushing the release date back.  But to finish on a optimistic note I do have my fingers crossed it'll be more than this.

if you look in Azeroth you'll notice much more content that hasn't been sorted yet, Hyjal and afew instances for example. unless they're planning on releasing what they should have released in TBC in a new Exapansion pack. truth is that all games companies on the PC market release incomplete products, if it's a bug that they found ages ago before the deadline release or in MMO cases whole areas and monsters. However MMO's handle it different in promising new content updates to entice more people to sign up. Although there are some exceptions to this. Lineage II is one example.

More stuff, including new Darkmoon trinkets!
Quote
With the approach of the next content patch, we thought we would share a few more new additions with you.

Trinkets: New Darkmoon cards

You will now have the chance to find additional Darkmoon cards (Lunacy, Storms, Furies and Blessings) on high level creatures in Outlands, which you can turn in to the Darkmoon Faire to make powerful new Darkmoon card trinkets.

New Graveyards

Two new graveyards have been added to Blade's Edge Mountains.

New Flypaths
New flight points:
Felwood, Emerald Sanctuary (Both)
Ashenvale, Forest Song (Alliance)

New flight paths:
Stormwind <-> Thorium Point
Grom'gol Base Camp <-> Flame Crest
Ratchet <-> Gadgetzan, Astranaar, Brackenwall Village
Brackenwall Village <-> Ratchet, Camp Taurajo, Freewind Post
Thunderbluff <-> Zoram'gar Outpost
Evergrove <-> Toshley's Station
Honor Hold <-> Shattrath

In addition, many flight paths have been adjusted to be shorter, faster flights.

I was wondering if they would update the darkmoon faire rewards to make the faire useful to post 60 characters.  I never collected the cards pre TBC so I like that I can do it now with new decks.

Still think this isn't the best way to expand the life of a game. This patch should have been released about 2 months ago cause alot of people already where ate 70 then and didn't have anything to do anymore. The end game stuff is a bit over the top even for hardcore guilds. Just hope their next expansion is going to be a bit better then this one:) on a happy note engineering has been kicked back in the game with the new changes
