Arena... let's talk about tactics :D

Hello gladiators of glory

Due to my first ever arena experience yesterday, i have to admit that i had a lot of fun. Though we get smashed, steamrolled and whatnot... i think most beginning teams are feeling the pain we do now

However, practice is the best way to become a bit better and actually try to win some of those arena battles imho. We do have some very limited cc in our setup : no sheeping or fear. However we got entangling, traps, cyclone and sap. However in theory it's all good and fine, but in practice it's the speed that will have the most important factor.

I'll add some toughts i have in circumstances and setups that we could be facing:

1. Get the healer 111!!!

For sure, i tried the best i could to keep the healer (mostly a pally) stunned, silenced, blinded, anything a rogue can do to keep it halting from getting heals off.
My main poisons i use are crippling (slow movement) and wound poison(=mortal strike once 5 stacks applied).
The trouble of a pally healer is that they can cleanse practically anything that is getting them down and if the brownies hit the fan, buble is their friend where you just can stand and watch them go full health again, together with his team mates.
However, i think it should be a viable alternative to use the environment (depending on which arena we enter) to keep the main dmg dealers that are healed, as far as possible from the healer.
So for instance while i try to stunlock/cripple the healer (it's almmost impossible to kill them on my gear cause of the 10K+ HP they got) the rest of the team should get the fight out of reach from the healer, so he cant reach his mates to heal them in time.

2. Major DPS inc !

OK, the most fearfull thing i experienced in the few fights we did, were absolutely mages that focus fire on you. Before you know it, i was down, even with the cloak of skill used. offcourse it's all gear depended, but i still do believe that having better control on what is going on, will give us in time benefit to master when and how to CC the dmg dealers. However i think that the best thing to do is to focus as much as possible on the healer going down if it isn't a pally. If it's a pally, we should be better of keeping him cc'ed as much as possible and pay attention to interupt any heals he try to pull off (except in immune mode offc)

3. Protect our healer

I think it's also a good tought to leave at least one person responsible to slow/cc/whatever it takes to keep the opposing team to focus fire our healer, no matter what class it is (druid/shammy/priest/pally). The less the healer need to worry to heal himself, the more he can heal us

4. keep the trinket out, it's worth it!

I know there are way better trinkets that would boost +sta, +AP, +spell dmg and so on, however the trinket of the alliance (aka get out of immobilisation) is absolutely a lifesaver if you get stunned and getting in a tight spot. I know that for instance once a rogue kidney shot, it's time to hit that trinket because if you use it on cheap shot, you'll be stunned right away because they go kidney shot on you.

Note, this is just a primarily braindump. I'm no expert by far (henche the first ever match played yesterday). However i did a lot of research about arena fights and how some classes are handeled and so on.

I would suggest to keep this thread a bit ordered and to the point. Any substantial and intresting info/tactic/tought i'll update this main message so everything stay a bit combined.

Note : I don't want to pretend that we will be hardcore and seasoned veterans and it's definatly not my intention to become l33t, however i think with some good notes and situations where we know what to do (read : what will work) i think our chances of winning and surviveability could get a bit up

So keep the ideas comming in if you want ^^
