All officers please be aware that some guilds on arathor are being targetted by scammers that are using similar Guild Leader alt names to gain access to the guild bank.

The way it works is like this:

Scammer makes an alt called "splishBank" or something similar.  He then whispers an officer asking for invite and promotion.  If an officer does this then the scammer will simply empty the guild bank of anything usefull.

Please be aware of this, always double check who the alt by insisting that the main char logs in first to confirm the alt.

I'd like to pin-point out that even if the adress looks valid e.g

www.wow-europe.com/account
www.wow-europe.com/account

They're not re-directing to the same webside. One of the above links re-directs to Google.com - do you know how to figure out wich without clicking it ?
Always make sure you check every single adress by right clicking on the link and choose "properties" to see what adress they re-direct to.
Many of those scam e-mails contains valid links to World of Warcraft's legit pages like Terms of Use page etc...to make sure the e-mail looks valid.

Alternatively.... copy the address and paste it into another browser window. That's a pretty common scam that you'll see in many phishing emails, so checking the link goes to where it suggests is DEFINITELY worth doing.

Yeah, i usually hover over links so i can see in the left lower corner where it leads, andif i still dont trust it i right-click, copy link location and then dump it in google search bar in the upperright corner.  As last resort you always have whois.com telling you who owns the domain

[edit]From Whois:

Taking the domain from that emailadress, 163.com, gives us this out of whois:

Aka, china. We all know where that leads....

So even if you only have like 2 minutes, whois is your friend and will tell you all about the owner ^^

.... splisheeeh, how did you hide yourself from whois? what shady buisness do you have hidden in this website?

Domains By Proxy is just something that GoDaddy offer. Saves me having my personal contact details available on the internets, and since I'm not real big on giving away my personal info to sales droids it was worth the extra couple of bucks when I registered the domain. GoDaddy hold my contact details, and if anything comes through to the registered address that isn't junk they pass it on to me. Hint: nothing has come through so far.
