Arena w/c 26/09/07
« on: September 26, 2007, 07:08:05 AM »
Again this thread is for your availability.  If you can't make the usual Tuesday 21:00GT slot then post your availability here so we can try and organise an alternative for you.  Without Amberley's kindness last night no-one would have got any points this week as there weren't 5 of the arena team online so please remember that Tuesday night is the normal night and anything outside that slot is purely for the benefit of those who can't make Tuesday.

In other news, we should have 289 arena points from last week which is nice.  Having Amberley along was surprisingly effective, as a prot paladin she gets mistaken for a healer but takes rather longer to die than the opposition expect.  Several times she stood there taking a kicking from 2-3 of the opposite team without any real healing and still not going down quickly.  We still sucked, but we sucked for longer this time as we survived better

Me and Altrurian did a few 2v2 games after the 5v5 which was interesting.  Judgement of Justice is still the MOST ANNOYING SPELL IN THE GAME for a druid but we still managed to win 3 out of 6 matches.  The most frustrating match was priest/warlock.  Fear, spell lock, deathcoil, fear, howl of terror, spell lock, primal scream, yeah that's playable against :/

I got to admit that i was really surprised that Amberley stood her ground in this nasty environment...
But the trick of 'who is now the healer', did something for most teams we were opposed (except from a steamrolling horde, was like a hurricane where we didn't even notice what was going on before the game ended  )
The 5-team hunter was also something that was strange of a setup, but i really think we could've taken them down by using LoS and trying to get close to the hunters individually.

However, great times even if we loose a lot. Most teams try skirmish first to build up some xp against several group formations, maybe if we have a free time gap we could go for some practice games too (so our points won't go down offcourse) ?

Anyways, i got the taste of arena and surely find it intresting to get into. So if anyone got a slot in 2v2 or 3v3, i'm always intrested to join in

3 DPS 2 healer teams do seem to be very effective, extremely difficult to take down the healers as you need to concentrate on two at once.  Even with neither of us being "real" healers it still worked fairly well.

I have no problem with that but I also sort of view it as a waste of time for anyone not doing battlegrounds to get the honour gear too.  Gear > skill and we don't have the gear.

I have a slot in my 2v2 team ("Oh dear") if you fancy a go.  Initially this team is more to get experience of 2v2 but eventually I will migrate it to more serious arena play where anyone joining will be expected to have basic PvP gear already and adopt a PvP spec for arena matches.  2v2 is certainly far more forgiving and not so frantically paced and after today's patch the point penalty for 2v2 is smaller.  After 6 games our rating is 1501 so it's gone up overall

Unless we drop over 200 points this week that should be no problem.  Dropping 200 points in one week would be unusually crap even for us

Unavailable Tuesday, but otherwise up to the three games at almost any point, Mondays at 20 GT been the time suitable for it so far. Hidari that is. Was picking up very little arena points with Migite this week, but we were winning quite a lot of 2v2 games, with Garatsiel and her. The team isn't up to any rank to talk about yet though, but we're going there.
Anyways, what I intended to say was that I will continue to do 2v2 arena with Migi and 5v5 with Hidari if that's OK.

I did something incredibly stupid and signed up to SH on Tuesday.  Since the group is still a healer down I will stick with the run instead of Arena and pass on the Arena Points this week.  If you find yourselves unable to get a group for the matches then perhaps some compromise can be met tomorrow.

So Choleric, Altrurian, and Hidari not available for Tuesday.  Are all three of you available before tonight's Arcatraz run?

Will definitely be a squeeze for me, don't usually get in from work until 19.00GT and then I have to eat and clean the dinner things away. I will get on-line as quickly as possible and see what we can do from there!

Altrurian is at a gig, Chol is signed up for the Halls, Hidari is not available, it all depends on the availability of Raf/Lifestealer/Benevolion/Amberley.

Can it can be fitted in before/after the halls? As said, I'll keep an eye here in case you need 1 more.

I'd imagine SH will take place between 20:00-22:00GT.  I can be online from 19:00GT but need to log off by about 23:00GT, so I basically have an hour either side of the SH run to play with.

So, last week we were on 1231 rating, after winning 5 games this week we're on 1275.  Nice going, that's the first week our rating has EVER gone up
