WoW hit the Ten Million player mark recently - as seen on the official site.  I for one would like to express my own little message of appreciation to all those gold spammers that continue to bolster the numbers that make the annual pat-yourself-on-the-back day at Blizzard HQ such a riot, congratulations

Cynicism aside, that's a large number.  I am continually discovering people I know dabble in Azeroth in their spare time.

That's 10 million accounts purchased. I do rather wonder what the stats for ACTIVE accounts are...

I'm also starting to hear all kinds of suggested dates for WotLK, but we should probably bear in mind that Blizzard have already missed their predicted one expansion per year target.

10 million.  Or at least 10 million being payed for concurrently even if not being played, expired accounts are not counted.

About a week before AoC and WAR are released if Blizzard can possibly manage it.

World of Warcraft's Subscriber Definition

World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees' territories are defined along the same rules.

Interesting... I'd read elsewhere that Blizzard refused to define the number of active (ie being paid for at any given point) and that the figure would be substantially lower than 10 million. Grats to Blizzard, I guess.

Did you know the literal translation of Ni hao in Mandarin Chinese - according to wikipedia - is "You Good".... no, no they aren't.

Would make perfect sense, since these two games could have a serious impact on Blizz if they get it right.  However, WAR is looking more and more likely to be an autumn release - I wonder if they would wait this long.  Probably some time between the two; summer most likely.

they cant release it too soon, first they haveto get thier new instance out, and they want this instance to finish up tbc lore, thefore they prob let alot ppl clear it before they release next expantion

Personally, im going to take a break from WoW when WAR is released, might be connected to that i actually paint warhammer figures IRL too, but meh. Still, It would be smart for them to release TWotLK before the two as otherwise a lot of people might think "Ah, TBC is getting boring, Lets try something new" and then they get stuck playing WAR or AoC.

You mean the Sunwell? Actually, i think thats going to become like Naxxramas, a dungeon not many visits because its waaaaay too hard, atleast i dont think a lot of people will be able to clear it fully. But yes, i think it wraps up TBC, as the last boss is Kil'jaeden, a major leader of the legion. Personally i would like to see these "Important" bosses for WoW history in earlier dungeons, (Archimonde, One of the major leaders of the legion, Kael'Thas Sunstrider, former leader of the blood elfs, Lady Vashj, Leader of the Naga, Illidan, Demon Hunter, blessed by Sargeras (leader of the legion, one of the Titans), Brother to the Archdruid Malfurion which got training from the forest god Cenarius and is the husband of the leader of the night elfs, Tyrande (Malfurion), Kel'Thuzad, The right hand of the Lich King, Arthas/Ner'zhul, etc, etc)
But i guess a lot of people thats into WoW Lore (Like me) wouldnt like to continue raiding if they didnt think they would be able to fight Bosses that are important to WoW Lore, But meh, Hey i raid and i dont raid them and i continue raiding! But hey, Thats me. Now Gief the Sunwell expansion so i can see that new 5 man dungeon! (And maybe throw a PuG to the new 25 man dungeon to just see the first trash mobs? O.O "Leeeroooooy Jenkins!")

Complete with the end of Kael'Thas (there are already raiders irritated by that, apparently Blizzard have decided not just raiders should deal with major lore events).

Meh, I forgot about him! Well, i read this interview of some guy who was working with WoW and the interview was about the new Dungeons. The last boss is going to be a Kael'Thas with some sort of "Hey i got beat up!" look on him (I also think it said something about him having some metal thing in his chest).

It is well designed, but incredibly hard. Same will be with the Sunwell i think, Well Designed but Very Very hard.

persionally i dislike the thought of killing of every lore char. mostly because they are powerfull, how can 10/25 ppl kill them when they killed hordes of enemys at the same time, also i think when they killed every damn lore char they will run out of things to kill and fianlly take in some new chars, witch they should do by now, instead of killing the ppl many ppl like. it most be fun playing on nefarion/ragnaros servers now, no one  me thinks like that as thier servername no more, since raggy is old and forgotten

well i for one am glad that major lore events aren't only in raids, personally i don't like the thought of being in a guild that is only about raiding DKP etc. there's not as much fun in that compared to a friendly guild such as this. let the raiders be irritated, the none raiders have been irritated long enough at not being able to get tier armour till now.

They have started to release details on some of the new mobs in WotLK.  I can't help but feel that with the non-instanced PvP zone and creatures like the Plague Eruptor (very Chaos-like), there is an intentional attempt to try to blend in with the style - and indeed, ideas - of WoW's top two contenders this year.  Someone at Blizzard must be anxious

Still, as always, this kind of competition is nothing but good news for us consumers, we have some very tasty stuff to look forward to this year.

I totally agree with you, it makes me a little angry seeing all the powerful creatures and leaders of Warcraft Lore get killed in one game, as i want Warcraft to live on. But im guessing they will always find a way to make them get ressurected or make new leaders rise.

Im pretty sure he wont have the same loot as the Kael'thas in TK, As that i can get would make raiders angry and everything a bit unfair for those that can actually manage to down him. But i agree with you thats its good that they let major lore events happen in 5 mans and things that is actually accesable to people that has a life or isnt allowed to raid 6 times a week from 7 to 12.
