Ok, Fortuna needs a respec. I've done a hell of a lot of reading in various locations and it's frankly confused me more than I was at the start!

It seems more points in Arcane are a must, and while it does seem to be that fire is still the way forward to up DPS a lot is being made of Icy Veins (and I'm rather attached to them, I have to admit)

As such I've spent the last half hour mixing and matching and have come up with

http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/t...010000000000000

It's not THE raiding mage spec that EJ etc will point you to, but it looks pretty balanced to me,#

Comments and criticism if you please

Now which spec is the best then - well the general consensus in the mage community is still either:

10/48/3 - the good old deep fire spec

or

2/48/11 - deep fire with Icy Veins

As Maz mentioned I specced into Icy Veins to try it out - and personally I like it very much. What you have to ask yourself though, before speccing into it is, whether or not it is worth giving up clearcasting for it. So basically - do you have alot of mana left at the end of a fight or do you find yourself running quite dry?
If you have a lot of mana left - then by all means spec into Icy Veins since it yields an extra 2-3% damage. Because unused mana is basically wasted DPS and Icy Veins is a good mana sink. I know it is really difficult to know how each fight turns out, but with the new mana gems and the appropriate gear for it Icy Veins is a good choice.

but thats fire spec.

the spec looks quite good, let me know how it works out please.

i'm still playing around with mine, i prefer fire but i can't seem to balance out the arcane and fire trees to my liking.
it's expensive way to do it but i think i'm getting a better spec each time i try a new one.

That's an interesting spec, I would very much like to hear how a largely arcane spec fares.  I am going to have a respec myself especially if Kara goes ahead this evening.  To try and push as much dps as possible using the fire tree a little more.

I'm genuinely interested in why you've spent talent points in wand damage and prismatic cloak, which, while useful, seem like they could have been spent on improved arcane missles or some fire talents to boost damage further.  There might be some reason to this that I have overlooked.  Improved AM is very useful and once you have it you'll love AM even more.

Keep these build ideas coming though people, it's always interesting to see different builds aside from the widely accepted setups.

Prismatic Cloak was largely in an attempt to be able to maintain a little of the survivability of my current build, and the point in wands was there for those nasty times when I know I'll (cetainly with this spec) go oom with Evocation, mana gem and mana pot on cooldown. Oh, alright - it's because I needed one more point in Arcane for Spell Power, and I rarely use AM.

That said, if I were to use this build then I guess AM would have to feature in my rotation, so you may have a point... I'm just keen to avoid the cookie cutter build, so I'm trying to be a little creative.

My build is pretty much the basic Arcane/Fire build Click Me
boring but practical.  I really want to squeeze more dps out of my build, but am reluctant to give up things like PoM.

he is pretty insistant that it's the best. i however am still experimenting, i'm currently quite happy with mine though i need to get my dps up a bit, though i'm certain once i upgrade the gear i'll get there

sylantar build

Generally it is similar to what I was toying with, certainly in terms of fire:arcane ratio.

Unfortunately I can't see yours due to problems with the armoury and my explorer

Thanks Jaxc, I found Sy's talent build on the roster in the end, didn't realise she had updated it.

I have respecced to this. I had to give up my beloved PoM, about 800 mana and spell crit/dmg for other magic schools but since I do almost all my dps via fire I shall see if it was worth it on the next raid.

Ok, it's done - I respecced (though I tweaked ever so slightly) and tomorrow night will be the big test so I'll let you all know how it goes.

Ok - I'm currently loving PoM/Pyro, missing my pet and ice barrier. The numbers aren't too bad though.

After a month I just couldn't get comfortable with the build, and I'm now back as deep frost.
