As you're probably aware I've been planning on overhauling the guild ranking system for a while - I'm working on it still at the moment and will post an update (hopefully) later today. One feature of the new ranking system is that it will be impossible to get above a certain rank without signing up at the forums (which you're obviously fine with, as you're reading this) and installing the roster addins. Ranking details will be along shortly.

Ok - here are the ranks in ascending order...

n00b
recruit
seedling
tree
squirrelmeister
spork
right hand man
the guvnor

There are also a couple of special ranks for a couple of people, but you'll find those out later. I wanted to steer clear of the military terminology in use at present, and I'm not dead set on the seedling and tree ranks - any suggestions much appreciated.

Hmmm. Get rid of Guvner, and rename it 'Oh Great and Mighty'.
All gnomes should be ranked 'Midget'.
Also I would like a special rank of 'Fairy Princess'.

I would like the rank of "Spanish Inquisition" ... as we know, nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition

Other noteworthy ranks:

- Larch
- Norwegian Blue
- Emmenthaler
- Captain Silly
- Barsteward
- Noggins

crikey - quite a response so far! The sad fact is that there is a limit of 10 ranks to the guild (blame Blizzard for that one) given the limit to what people can and can't be allowed to do.

As things are nobody will progress beyond Seedling (or whatever I decide to call it) without joining the forums and installing the roster gubbins; I believe that would be fair.

A fair decision I would say, however, only meaningful if ranking has purpose ie. the rank facilitates or denies privelege. The necessity to motivate people to use the roster tool is obvious, the method of achieving it is a choice between hard-line punishment or fair reward and encouragement. A revamp of the rank system to encorporate responsibility and/or privelege is an ideal opportunity to get more people to 'buy into' the system without having to threaten punishment.

Just to clarify - the higher ranks have access to officer chat, ability to invite people, pro/demote etc etc. The lowest rank gets guild chat...

If this doesn't encourage people to get the addins installed I'll have to start looking at a policy where nobody gets on the high end raids without installing them. They're easy to install (and I have no qualms helping people if they get stuck) and if people use UU there really is no extra work to be done once it's setup - have it run on startup and uplad on change of file.

It might be a good idea to sketch out what known mods tend to mess up the profiler mods for the roster as well.

RecipeBook and RecipeRadar may or may not influence the profilers. It seems that Auctioneer might actually be the culprit in some situations.

I have Auctioneer, Titan Panel and Gatherer installed with no issues alongside Character Profiler & Guild Profiler.

Recipie Radar doesnt seem to have caused any problems for me so far. As for the ranking system sounds good to me, are we going with a specific theme or just all out randomness?

A plant theme would be fitting

1- dirt
2- seed
3- seedling
4- leaf
5- branch
6- sapling
7- tree
8- oak
9- ent
10- ancient ent

Seems to go along our guild name rather nicely. Comments?
