Old thread! But I'm watching The West Wing (and reading the screenplays) for the fifth or sixth time, and it still fascinates me how spot-on Aaron Sorkin was back in '99 when he started writing the show.
"It's not just about abortion, it's about the next 20 years. Twenties and Thirties it was the role of government, Fifties and Sixties it was civil rights. The next two decades it's gonna be privacy. I'm talking about the Internet. I'm talking about cell phones. I'm talking about health records and who's gay and who's not. And moreover, in a country born on the right to be free, what could be more fundamental than that?"
If anyone hasn't watched it yet - do it. There are weak seasons, but overall this is still one of the best (if not the best) TV shows ever made.
