level 50 quest rewards
« on: October 04, 2006, 08:24:04 PM »
I'm trying to work out which quest reward to pick, so far I've been the lowest level character on most of the mid level runs so have had it easy (so to speak) and mainly been able to hit things as hard as possible until they die.  Now we're all starting to move up a little (should be most of us on BRD within the next week or so) it's probably time to branch out a little so I'm looking carefully at the Forest's Embrace chestpiece as +55 healing seems like a number not to be sneezed at.  While I'd really like the Grizzled Pelt for my cat/bear forms it seems there's other kit out there that will do almost as well whereas the Forest's Embrace is a bit special.  Does that about sum up the situation or is the Grizzled Pelt better than I think it is?

it really depends how you enjoy your own playstyle, which i think is full feral

If that's the case you're better off for now with the pelt, which will give you more armor bonus in bear and more str+agi(=dodge+armor+crit strikes)...

just my 2c's

My play style has been full feral so far but I'm now putting points into resto (aiming for 0/30/21) as my ultimate aim is to be a good healer, a good off-tank, and a good off-dps.  I'm not aiming to be super-tank or cat-rogue, I'm happy playing second fiddle to the single purpose classes and occasionally stepping up to bat where needed (e.g. polymorphing bosses) so I want the best gear I can get for those roles (I have no intention of ever trying to be a mage substitute though, having seen what a mage can do I'm formly convinced caster is by far the weakest of our options).

Bearing that in mind the healer reward looks like a really good piece but the feral one looks good but less so when compared to the other gear out there (Blood Tiger Harness springs to mind as a viable alternative a little later on but I really can't find another healbot chest piece to match this one (not one I'll ever see anyway)).  I was really wondering if I was misreading it and the feral piece really is more special than I think it is.

if that's the case, then you should go for the healing chest. Like they write in wowwiki, it's the only leather piece with so much +healing for a while and if you want to be like i think you want (being a hybrid class) you will depend on different kind of gear along the situation and encounters you will be in.
And you're right, the feral chestpiece can  easily be replaced when you go to scholo/strat/lbrs instances.

Cheers for that confirmation, never having been to the high level instances I wasn't entirely sure whether I was right or not about the feral chest piece being replaceable.
