IMPORTANT - Opinions wanted!!!
« on: April 23, 2006, 01:47:40 PM »
Hi

It's been noted that we are a small guild, and as such have a small active userbase - I'd like your thoughts and ideas on how we could increase our active userbase in order to allow us to guild guild only runs and raids on instances. There are no prizes, nor is any comment going to get you demoted or anything silly like this. As this affects all members of the guild I'm asking for everyone's opinions. Do you like us as a small guild? Do you feel valued? Would you prefer to grow through invitations or do you think a guild merger would make more sense? What's your favourite marsupial? Sorry - that one had to go in for Syril.

Anyways - if you could all post your thoughts in this thread we can then make a decision as to how we move the guild forward. Thanks for your time.
Hope you're enjoying being a member of the Seeds Of Glory - any donations towards the running costs of the site are gladly recieved!

'lo,

I don't think it would benefit the guild any if we did a merger with other guilds. Too many people would be bundled together too fast. One of the things I like with a guild that grows little by little, is that everybody gets to know each other.

We could do with a handful new members, though. I would prefer people who speak english at a level where they're comfortable with the language. I mean no disrespect to the people who have a hard time with english, but it makes it difficult to do groups effectively sometimes.

Other than that. All levels are welcome as far as I am concerned. I would suggest inviting new people _after_ you have spoken with them. Inviting players without addressing them first, gives us bad karma.

The Victorious One Has Spoken.

Firstly i would have to agree that a merger is a bad idea as we will have too big an influx at once and the original 'sides' would cause tension for a while in group selection etc.

I personally like the atmosphere we have in the guild at the minute, everyone looks out for each other and if we can keep that as we grow we will be an even fantastic guild, but to do that we need to grow slowly. If you think about it when the guild started there were no near 60's in here but most actually got there with the guild's help and everyone has seen and shared their journey. There are many more on there way to this goal which will get easier and easier the more high levels we have to help them in the final stages. We need to encourage this attitude throughout all the levels, use the forum more to organise runs and to share tips especially at these lower levels.

With regard to future recruitment the next patch will make thing easier as there will be a dedicated guild recruitment channel, again as Buadhachan said previously don't just invite people, if i've seen someone looking for a guild i'll whisper them to find out what they want from a guild and tell them a bit about us before even asking if they are interested in joining. Plus think about what we need as a team (We desperately need Warlocks and dedicated healers.) and how we work as a team, can this person bring that to the guild?

Another option is to raise the profile of the guild, we need to be seen by the rest of Arathor to be active, try and work together in groups, you may need to invite a few other people but let them see people working together well with Seeds of Glory written above their heads! We do this and people will want to join.
Battlegrounds are a good one for this, a lot of us don't like the battlegrounds, as you end up in a dis-organised mess with no structure, if we can join as a party and the Seeds of Glory part of the team works as an effective unit on the field our profile will be boosted again. Plus it will be more enjoyable than as perhaps the horde won't win for once as the alliance scatter randomly across the battleground

Most of all it's a matter of time, think how the guild has grown and improved just over the past few months, a few weeks ago we wouldn't even have been considering doing a raid  Arathor is one of the more established realms so it will take a while to get noticed and grow, but if we are are patient i believe we can make it sooner than we think, we just need to learn to walk before we can run.

Anyway those are my thoughts, but i'll happily support any decisions that are made.

In my opinion, 100 members in a guild - it is definately enough. I still don't know even a half of them and  think that dont need more people. Small guild gives us this friendly atmosphere. I don't mind about joining new members if are valuable and helpfull for the guild.
Sorry for a very short comment, but Daemonetta said enough, probably lots of people will agree with that.

I pretty much echo the sentiments expressed in the previous posts. I don't like the idea of merging with another guild as i think it would dilute a lot of what we have built up and achieved so far. I don't think a huge recruitment drive is advisable either though as more often than not that just ends up with lots of people being invitied and leaving shortly after. If we carry on at our current pace and focus on getting exisiting members to 60 then we will end up with a good guild for raids and high lvl instances that works well together as a team.  Although I wouldn't object to a few more high lvl healers and warlocks! At the end of the day though anyone who want's to join the guild is, and always has been, more than welcome.
Errrm, apologies if I rambled there!

Nothing more, nothing less. All was said. And i agree, totally.

As you've mentioned about members, 100-150max. More will destroy us as a good friendly group.

Because we are growing slow it lets us know each other much better and on different level (like a brotherhood).
We talk about private life, not only about game.

That's what i like in the Seeds of Glory.

Anyway soon in this slow growing way we'll have enough 60 lvl's to do some big things.

We are going pretty well, even great, and i don't mind being not known as a guild.

WE ARE A GOOD TEAM!!!

Well, I am thinking a bit further ahead in the future and I see that we dont have enough healers nor casters not even for a Scholo/Strat/DiM/BRS but of course even less for ZG, AQ, MC etc.

I have seen in 4 guilds what happens, we all are confortable while growing to lvl 60, but after that life become more boring and we all need more challenges.

What are gonna do when people feel that we can even organize a Scholo run because we dont have a mage online?? I tell you what happen, people will go to Scholo with other guild´s members and such guys will say that their guild is starting to go to MC and will show some epics....and the rest is easy to guess...more and more people will leave us in search of killing their boredoom in high-end instances and getting their epics.

Anyway let´s see how this guild evolves as we get more lvl 60s but I ve never tried Battlegrounds or pvp things. In my experience the guilds that are to small to do high-end instances (at least 40 active lvl 60 members all classes) become to PVP guilds.

In the future, we can sell ourselves as a druid based guild (yes, druids are now the most wanted class in big PVE guilds) and join a bigger high-end guild all together. I still have some nice contacts with some TheBlackRose oficials and we should think about this option in the future.

BH

Another thought. We have to encourage the use of forums and open a thread for any instance for any level, from DM to lvl 60 ones, in order for people to find suitable guildies same lvl to do such instances and ease the schedule of runs.

I must admit that Julen is right.
In my opinion except inviting new members maybe we could focus on helping existing players to be 60 lvl asap. I recon it would make our guild stronger in relationships and high lvl players.
And as Biggy mentioned, lets invite Healers and Mages/Warlocks.
I really think, that much more members would destroy that, what we have at the moment.
I dont know about others, but i'm patient. I can wait for enough 60 lvl members to get better stuff.

Well, i'm 56 and maybe i'll change my mind, when i'll be 60

Anyway it's hard to decide, we dont want to loose anyone, do we?

speaking as a lower level being a mere level 38, i love the way the guild is but i as im sure everyone else is am willing to amke new friends. i think the inviting with information approach getting to know that someone in commited and will stay with the guild when they join thats a good idea.

but i also love the idea of helping people reach higher levels it expresses a love shared within the group and as someone mentioned before a brotherhood that is wehat it feels like and i like it. i cant say anythign about higher lvl raids because i dont know about them, but even people from the bigger guild go on raids with other guilds i know because my fiance does. alot of people from other guilds would probably like to come on raids with a smaller guild because of the prospect of bieng main tank or main healer and the chance to get better drops or somethign i dunno i just like things the way they are

I totally agree with all the comments Daemonetta put forward and I definately agree that having a stronger presence on Arathor is essential to our success.  I would definately be up for being on some sort of Battle Grounds team if anyone else in the guild was interested in doing that.  As for bolstering our numbers if we focus on recruiting dedicated players that play classes we are short on, it will definately help out when it comes to high level raiding later on.

plz giv 10s....i need....giv plz
I'm in your forum, trolling your threads...

Uther quit, Arthas re-rolled and the Order of the Silver Hand disbanded...but you still want to be a paladin?

I'd just like to bring this topic back to the fore - We now have enough level 60s to run a Strat/Scholo/BRD/BRS type place on a regular basis, however I know some people are eager to move on to the MC/AQ20/BWL/ZG type stuff. Clearly we aren't enough at present to do this, however a few of suggestions have been proposed: one is that we merge with a larger guild (as discussed above), another is that we turn Seeds Of Glory into a kind of "feeder" guild to develop guildies up to lvl 60, then they move onto the "master" guild and the third is that we look to setup some strategic partnerships with a few select other guilds. We could then setup a shared chat channel for raid/instance organisation etc.

Please let me know of your thoughts and any other ideas on this. I personally don't feel ready to move onto MC etc until I have mastered BRD etc and got a bit more tier 0.5 gear, but I'm sure there are others out there who feel ready to move on now.

I'm a fan of the third option if anything.
This really is the point where guilds turn from a bunch of mates playing WoW and enjoying levelling up, having a chortle and so on into a hardcore dkp raid scheduled 'career' guild, and those just aren't cool. I think it'd be a shame to fragment an established group into seperate 'factions'. Merging does pretty much the same thing, it dilutes the original group.
Forging good alliances allows the guild name and integrity to carry on whilst offering the high-end players the opportunity to develop their 60s onwards past the 5man instances.

iam also a fan of the third option . i think that is best for the guild so we can have our feeling of a "brotherhood". in does guild i have been in who has done a merge it has always ended whit that everyone has left in time.

Ok, if you think so just give me some options to play 5 men dungeons regularly....I just have the evidence that if we had to cancel the last 5 runs is because we dont have enough lvl 60...so the starting point of 'we have now enough lvl 60' is not exact at all.

So start closing alliances with some other guilds and that would be ok for me. My only concern is that lately I am not having fun with the game as the only thing I can do is farm alone or going with PUG to instances.

I am only telling that we can join easily with a medium size guild that is starting to raid 20-men instances, not talking to join an uber-sized one with all the members in full-epics in which we´d be truly noobs.

I ve seen the gear NWO people wear and it is more-o-less like the one we have.

Alvion has just left the guild and prolly our new lock CphJackal is gonna do the same soon as we cant perform runs together.

M8s, I´m very sad to say this but I think I am going to look after a new guild too. I ve done my best to try to maintain the group together but it seems that you still prefer to close your eyes to evidence.

I am very sorry to do this, you can trust me. Just let me be in the guild until I find a new one.

Ty in advance.
